This is the opening event of a conference called Rural Realities.
Rural Realities is co-sponsored by the University and Houghton Wesleyan Church which looks at the realities of both rural poverty and the strength of rural communities, around America and close to Houghton.

Steve McVey is the director of the Dirt Roads Network, which resources churches and pastors to do culturally appropriate, meaningful ministry in rural churches.
