Multiple experiential learning opportunities are available to students through the What God is Doing in Friendship ny alliance of churches in a small community approximately 20 miles south of Houghton.
Participating churches in the alliance, which have been working together for a year-and-a-half in more than 40 different community outreach activities, are focused on reaching children, youth and young families in the Friendship area, while at the same time not neglecting elder populations.
It recently has undertaken development of an outreach center at a former church, rectory and offices complex on the main street of the hamlet, with a desire to include creation of an experiential learning center where students can practice skills which they are acquiring, including working with individuals and families, youth and worship ministry, Bible and group studies, preaching, music and arts education, financial stability for families, and more.
This effort is being facilitated by Allegany Hope, an area nonprofit Christian organization which has a focus on helping bring churches and Christian organizations together to accomplish more with less proportional effort.

Free materials, including a leather-look, pocket-sized copy of The Gospels in chronological order, in either English or Spanish, will be available while supplies last, along with other easy-to-use evangelism tools.
