You are invited to participate in Houghton’s special programming for MLK Day on Monday, January 15.
At 11:00am, please join us in the chapel to watch a remote interview with this year’s special guest speaker, Christian author and educator Jasmine L. Holmes.
During the afternoon, sign up for one of our discussion groups devoted to Jasmine’s books. With sessions devoted to three different books, there’s sure to be one up your alley. Here are the titles:
Mother to Son: Letters to a Black Boy on Identity and Hope
Carved in Ebony: Lessons From the Black Women Who Shape Us
Crowned With Glory: How Proclaiming the Truth of Black Dignity Has Shaped American History
Follow the appropriate link below to sign up for the group of your choice (only one per person, please), and we will supply a copy of the book:
Crowned With Glory, 2:30-3:30pm
Crowned With Glory, 3:30-4:30pm
Participation is open to students, faculty, and staff. At 7:30pm, we will invite the campus community to reconvene for a closing discussion of themes and topics from the day.
