The Houghton Choir will welcome the sixty-voice Hamburg High School Concert Chorale to sing Missa brevis (“brief mass”) settings by Haydn and Schubert. The combined choirs will be joined by a string complement made up of players from Houghton and Hamburg, organ, and solo voices from Houghton’s faculty as well as alumnus Brandon Mellerski (the conductor of the Hamburg choir).

The two mass settings will invite the audience to experience how worship music has been presented at certain times and in certain cultures, and contemplate how the time given to certain acts and words inform how well our hearts are moved as we seek Lord’s presence.
