March 25--this coming Saturday--is celebrated as Annunciation Day in many Christian churches. Traditionally, this is the day when the angel Gabriel tells Mary that she will bear Jesus. (If you're clever, you'll notice that 9 months from Mar. 25 is Christmas.)

Houghton Art Professor Ted Murphy will be showing us some examples of artwork that relates to the Annunciation, giving us insight into how Christians have understood this event.
