Details
After receiving his bachelor's degree from Houghton College (1961), Glenn obtained an M.A. degree in New Testament from Wheaton College and MA and PhD degrees in TESOL and Education from the University of Illinois. His doctoral dissertation was a study of voluntary reading among Iranian men in the city of Shiraz, Iran. Glenn was a field staff worker for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship before moving with his wife Ann to a teaching position at Tehran University where they lived, worked, and shared the gospel until the national revolution forced their departure in their sixth year. Glenn later held faculty positions in Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong for a total of 16 years of overseas teaching plus two years of US Government appointments to Qatar, Moldova, and Azerbaijan for teacher training. Glenn's last 12 years before retiring were on the faculty of the Department of Foreign Languages, Eastern Michigan University. During retirement Glenn has used his Persian proficiency on ten trips to Turkey to minister among Iranian refugees who have fled their country often because of conversion to the Christian faith. He has written a guide book for tentmaking entitled Working Abroad with Purpose (Wipf & Stock, 2019). Glenn and Ann now live in Carmel, Indiana closer to their two children and four grandchildren.
