Halloween Costume Etiquette:
We encourage students to choose a costume that honors the values of our Christian community; please avoid any costumes with full face masks, elements of extreme violence (avoid prop weapons), racial insensitivity or sexual misconduct.
Modesty is the overriding principle of Houghton’s standards of personal appearance. Every Houghton student is expected to display the maturity necessary to comply with a style of dress that is consistent with the values of the university. Dress which is too revealing or displays advertisements or language that violates or encourages the violation of community standards is unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action (Student Guide 2024-2025).
